How was everyone's Chinese New Year?

The same old chinese songs blaring from the tv or radio, red colored decorations adorning houses, the deafening sound of fireworks and the secret skill of guessing how much money was in each red packet just by using your fingers. Wait, what? Nah, I'm just joking. I mostly stayed home this year but that does not mean I did not experience the festivities.

It will be a while until our next TOT and that only gives us more time to ensure that we are able to bring the very best performances to you. All that is left is that you guys show up and invite your friends to come aboard to an array of amazing performances.

Well, forgive us as it has been ages since we've updated this blog.

In short, a lot of things have been happening, heavily involving community services. What can I say but in a span of 3 years, God has been changing our hearts for the people.

Speaking of 3 years, it's our anniversary today. But unlike our previous anniversaries, we want to keep things simple. So..... we have tied our theme along Thanksgiving, thanking those who have faithfully serve and won secretly the hearts of those people who have been entertained by our TOT line ups/performances.

I know this is kind of late but if you're free, come and join us to celebrate thanksgiving.

We've got a 3 dance line up, acoustic sessions, fluti tutti(come on over to find out what I'm talking about =P) and a band session featuring Relent, who would feature new songs for what is to come next year.

So if you're a fan of Track of Talents and Relent or simply have nothing to do on a friday night, COME to Track of Talents!

Inspiring positive change in youth

Are today’s youth apathetic and uncaring? A couple in Kuala Lumpur does not think so and has founded a movement to inspire young people towards positive change.
IT IS inevitable. Each generation thinks the succeeding generation is doomed. It’s in our nature to regard the formative years of our lives as the best compared to any other generation’s. Our music, movies and arts were the best, people behaved better and were friendlier, young people were smarter and more responsible. But were they really?
Those who grew up in the digital age may seem to have it easy with everything literally at their fingertips – fingertips on a keyboard, that is. Ask anyone who grew up in the 1970s or 80s, and she or he will probably say the kids today are apathetic and materialistic.
But Kelvin Lim and his wife, Cathryn, refuse to believe that. They choose to pin their hopes on the young people of today, believing that the general consensus is wrong and that today’s youth can be inspired to act for the greater good. And they founded Change Your World, a non-profit movement that seeks to do exactly that.

Note that the name is not Change THE World, which means the founders believe that change begins with oneself from which will emanate a ripple effect of selflessness. The idea was born about two years ago, but before that, Cathryn admitted, they were just like everyone else who felt others’ problems were not their concern.
“All of us are born with selflessness,” said Cathryn, 44. “But the circle of people we would help is very small – our friends and family, friends’ friends. For me, whenever I saw what was happening in the world on the news, I felt sad. But like most people, I forgot about it the next day. A cut on my hand seems more real than those people I see suffering and dying.
“To be very honest, it was something that was awakened in us through our journey with our God. These are the things that He cares about. It was also very timely that we saw this video on human trafficking.”
It was then that she and her husband began to be bothered about what was going on around them. They read up extensively on what could be done and how to start a charitable movement. It took six months of heavy research into the lifestyles of the young before everything came into place.

“We realised that the young people are all for change,” said Kelvin, 40, an investment consultant. “They are open-minded and daring, and willing to do something, compared to those who already have careers (those above 25). They are more radical and community-driven. That’s why Facebook and blogs are so popular.”
Thus, Change Your World was created, and its mission, as stated on its website, is to “mobilise the millennial generation (ages 15 to 25) of all races and religions to take City and Nation Ownership as well as to create World In Crisis Awareness”. It travels from city to city to create awareness about real issues and promote justice, mercy and faithfulness.
Faithfulness to city and country, and taking “ownership” of one’s city came about because of the couple’s observation that people were leaving the country for greener pastures. Kelvin and Cathryn want to inspire the young to stay and find solutions to whatever problems they see instead of turning their backs on the challenges and leaving.

The Change Your World I Love Kuching initiative saw the participants visiting the home of an elderly couple abandoned by their children.

“The goal for the whole of Change Your World is to help people realise that justice, mercy and faithfulness are important,” said Cathryn, who is a pastor. “It means we should care for what is wrong and make it right.
“Our method is to help them to love their city, to want to care about their city. Then they would care about what’s happening around them. They won’t be thinking ‘It’s not me who got robbed, why should I care?’ And from there, it can lead to loving Malaysia and to thinking about people in other parts of the world.”
Change Your World embarks on pre-event “quests” which are one-hour interactive sessions where the young participants are given questions to think about. Then the main event takes place which involves music and dance, and other media-related activities, all done with a Christian flavour. After that is the “venture” where solutions are put into practice via projects or trainings. Change Your World also works in partnership with World Vision, Tenaganita, Community At Heart and Rakan Cop.

Kelvin Lim and his wife Cathryn founded the Change Your World movement because they believe people are inherently good and willing to help others.

“In the quests, we want to let the young people know that we are not just taking them to an event, but on a journey,” said Cathryn. “We hope that in every town and every city, we will grow into a movement.”
So far, Change Your World has gone to Penang, Ipoh, Kuching, Kluang, Johor, and Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
“We felt that wherever we spoke, we attracted young people,” said Kelvin. “And in a small town such as Kluang, we managed to rally about 200 young people to do something. Although it has been a year since we went there, the young people are still consistent in bringing change to where they are. And that’s exciting.”
In Kluang, the youths took “ownership” of 60 poor families, and visited the families every week. Once a month, they gave the families rice, canned food and other necessities.

The Change Your World main events are energetic concerts featuring live bands, dances and other mediarelated activities.

“During Christmas RM19,500 was raised for school uniforms,” said Kelvin. “And from 60 families, it has now decreased to 31 families because the young people helped some of them to find jobs.”
In November last year, in Penang, youths helped to paint the houses of poor families and provided them food. They also went to the police station to thank and show their appreciation of the local law enforcement. In March, Ipoh youths served at the Chemor drug rehabilitation centre and gave food to the nearby poor community.
“In every location that we went to, the statements from the young people were always the same,” said Kelvin. “They all said ‘I thought my goal was just to study well because I’m so young. But now I can sense some purpose and I know I can do something.’”

Preparation... the performers are getting ready. The team, are ready to welcome people for, hopefully an awesome night. =)

We start the night with an ice breaker. The crowd being divided to a group of 5. With 5 they are given a chance to form a nation as they wished. It can be anything! We steal the Ice Breaker time to set up the stage for our 1st act!

1st act, FLC ensemble! They did so well! They lighten up the atmosphere, I personally enjoyed it. So proud of them.

Next up, a contemporary routine choreographed by Nina. She and her students take our stage for the very first time. It was also the girls first time a contemporary piece. Great job girls!

3 lovely young ladies took the stage next... the first ballet piece! Can you believe it, after organizing ToT for 3 years! This is our first time having a ballet piece.

Neil, the host for the night... wasn't suppose to perform he just need to host. Unfortunately, it was a night full of technical error! Computer decided to hang in the middle of the performance. Hence this explain why Neil is singing... to give time for us to restart the computer. He did a acoustic version of LOVE AMAZING back up by Jude and Daniel (while managing the mixer).

This is Peter Wong! He and his wife going to settle down in Malaysia. This guy is amazing! Love his guitar skill and man, his voice is just amazing!
I hope my future husband can sing too... hahaha just kidding =p
Earlier we have computer problem, now just before we end, the stage light fail on us! thanks to Daniel calmness, we just got to make do without the stage light. Well, Peter Ong's voice and the sound of his guitar is enough to captivate us.

It was a fun and errr... interesting night.

I hope more then just good performances, the quest helps to inspire change. You can make a different, YOU and I need to be the change.

Dash! & Lash!

Hey People,

Hope everyone is doing good since our last Track of Talents.

And if you were at our last TOT, you would have known it was a blast!

It was our first time collaborating with Campus Rock to make Dash! & Lash! happen! And it was a success!

During that night we had different speakers to show us all how to dress well, style our hair and even to look good from the inside out.

And yes, those speakers weren't ordinary people, trust me.

Our first speaker was Ms. Eng Eng. She is one woman who has worked in all kinds of jobs, that dressing up and looking good has become her forte. And after she gave us useful tips, we were also given the chance to dress someone up. Very much like playing Barbie but this time our dolls were alive.

Our second speaker was a professional hairstylist, Jyason Wayne Lee. He showed us easy ways to make our hair look good and he even gave some people free hairstyling. If you were there, you would have wished he chose you! FREE hairstyling, who wouldn't want that?!

And i cant believe i missed this out! We had a fitness session where we learnt easy and fun ways to exercise by Isaiah Kee. This fitness instructor thought us how to stretch and even do squats! It was one funny sight though to see everyone moving together, just like an aerobic session. First time in the history of TOT we had an aerobic like session! Now that's different!

Our final speaker was Mrs. Cathryn Lim. She showed us how to be beautiful inside because as the saying goes, beauty is not skin deep. And I'm sure many took home valuable lessons.

At the end of the night, we did not just took home useful information but we also had fun.

And as you may know TOT is always out to support Tenaganita; and during Dash! & Lash, others had the chance to support them too.

All in all, its was another successful and entertaining TOT. If you have missed this one, its o.k, there's always our next one coming up in this month! So don't miss it!

1st Track of Talents of 2010

Thanks to everyone that makes ToT =)

As you already know, Track of Talents is organized by a group of youngsters... and we called ourselves 1a.m. creative life.

We started our sound check and set-up at about 5pm. And we always have time to pose for the camera =)

Door open at 730pm... the ushers are ready to welcome our guests... hmmm... are they really ready?

For the first time on ToT, we have string instruments in the house. Brought to us by Frontier Ensemble. This team consist from teens age 10 to 17, lead by Ms Jin Ai.

The sound of it was just so beautiful. Bring a different atmosphere to the place...

Next up we have Bryan Limus performing for the first time, presenting us 2 songs written by him.

Charles Tan, to me he kinda sounded a bit like John Mayer. Yes... as what Cuzario said about him, he doesn't sound like how he looks. I was totally engrossed at his singing.

Lastly we have our featured artist for the night. Alarice! Performing live together with Nigel.

She just released her 2nd album called SUNDAY AFTERNOON. If you missed her, do watch out for her updates HERE.

Last year we end our Year with a fund raising gala night in support of Tenaganita, therefore this year we will continue to support them with the work that they are doing, by raising funds. Each month they would need about RM20,000 to run the shelter. And Last ToT we raised RM686. We believe, as we put our hands together we will be able to be part of the team in bringing hope to those who are being trafficked, abused... etc...

Thousand apologies for taking so long to update our blog, and keep you guys waiting =)

Last November, in view of our 2nd anniversary we decided to take Track of Talents to another level. We organized a small fund raising - "2" Gala Night.

With the little that we have. We manage to pull the whole event together.

Those of you who attended must be wondering how much has we raised right?
That night, our rough estimation was RM3000, but after tally everything at the end of the event we actually raised RM4570!

There was no strings attached. The people came, they gave what they can and together we made a difference.

This night was special not only because we had a great line up but because everything from the smallest detail was able to turn an "Ordinary Night" into a "Night to Remember."

We ended 2009 Track of Talents with a CELEBRATION, with a cause.
Last night we had close to 100 people attended our very 1st Gala Night. This was a night that everyone of us really enjoyed because not only was it fun but there was cause involved.

3pm. Cleared all the chairs in our main hall, set up the tables and bring down blue banquet chairs.
Performers started coming in for rehearsal.

1. A festive occasion, especially a lavish social event or entertainment.

There… that should define it =) In conjunction to our 2^nd year Anniversary or to celebrate our 2^nd year Birthday, Track of Talents is gonna have a ball, a Gala event, a “par-tay” in style for the month of November

But…. A Gala? Why all this?

Well, we could do the normal celebration and invite artist, most “importantly” invite more guests to the event and just have an entertaining night but this time around we not just want to have an entertaining night but also a meaningful and a purposeful night to remember.

We at TOT, want to give everyone a chance to be a blessing to the community. To be the hope, the joy, the peace, the Change that this community so needs.

Theres a cause that we want to do, an organization that we want to support which is the “Tenaganita”

WHO is TENAGANITA?

Tenaganita is a women and migrant workers organization with the
mission to promote and protect the rights of all women and migrant
workers within a globalized world.

Vision: A society that ensures equal rights to all, freedom of people
with democracy and justice as principles of nationhood.

Mission: To promote and protect the rights of women and workers in a
globalized world and to create opportunities to empower women and
workers to achieve their fill potential in society.

Now this TOT event is like no other. Theres gonna be ticket sales, a dinner, auctions and many more and by the way, YOU got to look good for the event. Quite exclusive you must say =)… and lastly, to keep the spirit of TOT, we would have the best of the best performing for us to keep us entertained through out the evening.

Hey All!

first up sorry for the late update of the current post, I'm still learning the art of balancing between work and all the other activities that fall in between! anyhow, July's Track of Talents was loud! Altered Frequency which took the stage that night, announce it was performing it's last gig of the year before going on a hiatus.

We started the night with Kimberly, who entertained the crowd with her stand up Comedy act.

Next up we had an acoustic act by Jude & The Anderson

Deborah performed her very own self composed song

Altered Frequency Brought the crowds to their feets, with songs from both Albums, they closed the night with the song "Jesus Party"

In summary, the night was loud and filled with a diverse set of acts, from comedy, gigs, short films, and a live band!

Thank you for making June ToT another success
It was first for Ken Kit and Sam to roll the cables! and we import Tham from Bernard's LG to help us with the light.

But anyway.....

We start off June Track of Talents with some smooth and soothing music.

James and Jude played a number on stage. At first ... something was wrong coz'...not that Jude didn't know how to play the Keyboard(If you don't know Jude can play all instruments but TRIES to sing =P) but it was because James was holding the guitar and everyone was waiting for him to play only to witness him play hold the guitar for like the next 3 mins or so ... haih .. but it was a beautiful sight to see him hold the guitar ... Good job James!!!

Anyway... James did play the Keys on the second number so everything went back to normal =)

NEXT up we have a short film ... "1:19

"SYNOPSIS OF “1:19”

James, a college student who needs money for his tuition fees is in a hopeless situation as his older brother mindlessly gambles away their family savings. The tension increases between the siblings as confrontation and accusations are thrown around, causing James to take matters into his own hands...

OOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo..... To bad you miss the movie. This is by far one of the best short films I've seen so far this TOT. I'm pretty excited to see where this project is heading. I have tried asking the people if we could show their videos in YOUTUBE but till today there has been no Thumbs up! =( Sigh Sigh .Keep you fingers cross in the near future.... On the mean time .... COME TO TRACK OF TALENTS!!!

Next on the list was an acoustic performance done by Neil and Dom (Ben if you're reading this...you better perform this month at TOT. The NeilDOM Factor is dying. Need the BENDOM factir back =P hehehehe) They did a number on John Mayer's song "Daughters".

Neil then presented a video on Father & Mothers day which was shot last month. That was a special presentation for all our parents who were or not present at TOT. Will post it up this week for you all to watch.

Neil shared about his relationship with his dad. His parents came to visit him in Malaysia. They had lunch at TGIF Sunway where his dad broke down in tears coz Neil is just not the type of guy who would get anything or ask his dad for something. Long story short, the highlight of the story was when the waiter came up to the table and asked Neil "Why did you let you dad cry? Is it because you asked him for a BMW (He said it jokingly)? His dad respond "If my son ask me for a BMW I would give it to him!" WOW...... What a cool Dad!!! Neil?!?!?! Why didn't you ask? hehehe

Well with that testimony, Neil shared a verse from the bible where it mentions ""If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!" Matthew 7:11

I'm not saying that Neil's dad is evil but it was a good example on how our earthly fathers who know how to give good gifts, how much more our Father in Heaven? Aren't we glad and greatful to have a Father Like Our Father God =)

1a.m. Relent played one of their church favorite song called "My Father" where it touched many of the peoples heart that night. I am one of them =)

Anyway.... enough of the teary moment and lets move on whats next!!! Which is......

Our featured artist of the month - DRUMMER FOR CHRIST (DFC) and FREE TO FALL

Drummers For Christ or DFC was up first and I tell you.... It was amazing!!!! I've watched DFC perform in the past but this is by far the best performance to date. Imagine 5 drummers on stage?!?! At first, I was like "How in the world are they going to set-up on stage with so little time?" But they proved me and the people wrong!

Vince, the founder of DFC was on stage with just a snare.... where as the performance starts to build... the other 4 drummer would come up and just assemble his drum set and theirs as well. A good example of team work and entertainment on the spot!!! AWESOME!!!! Wish I could explain more but... Will flash out the video later....

Last but not the least ...LADIES AND GENTLEMEN....FREE TO FALL!!!! Wohooooooo!!!!

An all Girl Band from Klang....(Why does all the good musician come from Klang?!?! I'm not sure how true is this statement but thats what I've notice so far =P) That night they showed why girl power was on the rise and still pushing strong. Imagine a band that started out from scratched, no music skills, where 3 years later they are out there with a single and playing in different places. They started off with a new song, as one of the lead singer would put it "Fresh from the oven" And then played songs from Paramore, Kate Perry (Oh and I like it!!! =P) and to end, they played their Hit Single "The Wait" that is making waves in Malaysia right now.

A good mix of paramore, lifehouse and of course "their own" sounds.... Its amazing to see where these girls will go in the years to come. If you do get a chance to see them perform...be sure to get their latest single. Hey!!! Support your local bands MALAYSIA!!!!

If you haven't heard we've got TWO featured ARTIST for this month and we sure do not want you to miss out!

1st up Drummers for Christ

DrummerforChrist (DFC) is a movement for every Christian drummer who wants to share their heart, thoughts, ideas, expressions and creativity with fellow Christian drummers for the extension of our Lord Jesus Christ’s kingdom through drums, music, praise and worship or any other way that will bring glory to Him.

2nd up Free to Fall

Free to Fall is an all girl band originating from Klang. The band was formed in Dec 2005 with most of them having minimum or zero knowledge about playing instruments or making music. But having a shared passion and love for music has brought them to where they are now. They are a versatile band mostly dabbling in Pop rock music that also have a number of self composed songs; one of which made its way to the finals of a local song-writing competition.Today they have traveled all around, playing in schools, corporate functions, restaurants, churches, music fest and etc.

May's Track of Talents Was a Blast!

Hey all!

Track Of Talents last month was a blast,Alarice was in the house as she was our featured artist of the month. The night started off with a performance by Relent with the song "Who Am I". James K. was next with his one-man band, starting off with a song from 1a.m. and finishing off his performance with an impromptu remix and rearrangement of 'Thriller' by MJ, :)

shortin' is a brand new track @ TOT which features short films. This month we premiered our very first short film entitled "Last Words" the film was directed by Jeyna Lim (her very first) and features two rising actors ;) Mervyn & Marrissa. The story talks about life and how it can be rather short.The video was shot at Palate Pallette, FYI. Check out the video on youtube and leave your comments :)

For those interested, shortin' is a great platform for those who want to shoot their very own short film, which will be shown during TOT. If you have an idea or would like to help out in making 'shorties', drop us an email at trackoftalents@gmail.com or contact Kareem at 0126226455

We also had a showcase of various animation clips and shorties by Yap, who is currently working as an animator in KL. So if you're like Yap and would love to share with us your creative works, let us know and we might be able to hook you up to some screen time :)

There was a special act done by Neil and EU Wyn. They performed a song called Love in Bahasa Malay. Yes…..Neil sang in Bahasa. Was he good? Well….to bad you missed Track of Talents =P But he’s not the centre of attraction as the show was focused on Eu Wyn a 13 year old boy who play not one, not two but three instruments. On that night he played the bass. Maybe next TOT he’ll play something else…so be sure to catch him! =)

After the song was done, Neil interviewed Eu Wyn a bit about himself leading to the main talk of the event which is called “FAMILY”. He challenged the boys and gals between the age of 13-25 to write something for their parents in big bold letters where at the end of the event they where directed towards a white screen to project what they wrote in front of the camera

The nights' performance was rounded up with Alarice together with her guitarist Nigel performing on stage, Alarice performed various songs from her 6 track EP, Songs for a Season. You could describe her music as

"being predominately acoustic pop with fresh uplifting guitar driven tunes, and piano ballads that pull on the heartstrings"

an excerpt from her website (which i seem to agree).

WE'RE BACK!!!!!!

Welcome to the year 2009 as it embraces us with a hug instead of a bite of reality, people, get your resolutions listed on paper on your hands and do this with me... tilt it sideways while looking at the paper, hold both ends of the paper and then pull your hands and see what happens? That's right! Your resolutions making way for your willpower! tee hee just kidding! Anyways, I hope you guys had a blast celebrating every occasion Malaysia has to offer, well short of holidays for Valentines, I was dragging my behind to uhm... never mind. We all had a good time, it's all good and it's all that matters *grins widely*

And what better way to start our TOT this year with a start of a long run major project which I would talk about in our next post. It is a noble work, mind you so if it tickles your fancy, give us a ring! So here's a preview of our upcoming TOT happening this Friday (Sorry for the late update, Dom's voice keeps ringing in my ear every time someone mentions TOT, "BLOG, BLOG, BLOG, BLOG") So since we're in the lineup also, he figured it's a good time to sit me down and make me squeeze out my last brain juice on the blog. So here goes, we have a dance performance, a beat boxing showcase, a short play called collateral damage and a couple of acoustic acts by some of the town's finest, namely Rhythm Beyond Reason. This is the moment we have all been waiting for...........

Finally we have come to the Grand finale of our TOT for this year 2008 and it's also our first bird-day!! This time around, we have prepared a lineup from the best of the best all throughout our TOT this whole year! Blink no more!

Starting off the night was none other than the powerful triplet, t4c! The last time they were here, they left our crowd breathless and gasping for more air but this time around, Garrett had to grab my notepad and bite it to prevent himself from extreme hyperventilation caused by sheer excitedness. That's how good it was =) t4c presented us a few numbers by Il Divo and Josh Groban, the theme song for Liverpool and a christmas rendition, Oh Holy Night.

Next up was a child prodigy (at least for me he is), Clement, in his simplest appearance screaming, "I'm normal!!" which I couldn't believe until he solved a Rubik's cube under 2 minutes!! now get this... single handedly. Now do you believe me if i say he is a child prodigy? We got a few volunteers coming up to twist his cube in a frenzied cube of colours so he could get them all in the same colour for every surface of the box. Crazee ain't it?

One of the pleasure I've had speaking to bands is they speak with such confidence (reflects they're not just some band who thinks they have it all and some, they really have it all =)) and at the same time, still maintains that humble and warm presence. And such band is indeed a rare breed these days and i'm talking about one who won the Battle of the Bands in 2007, MRSC Songwriting competition and currently signed under the Starmaker contract and uprising star, The Bus Company. They came around a few months ago and totally rocked the house. This time, they presented us a few numbers all from which are from their own composition. Set to release an album soon in future (dates are yet to be confirmed), they are performing in alot of places and you can catch them here with all the updates =)

Next up is one of the type of bands I've mentioned earlier, formed in 2002, with a purpose to change the generation and a sole mission to bring worship to all nations, 1am. Neil, the frontman of the pack rocked the stage with a few solo which is to be in the upcoming youth album, "Changed". They gave out a soon to be released single, "Crooked" which is targeted to take the mainstream by storm. Not intending to only reach out to the Christians, they are all set for today's generation.

The one performing after 1am would be the tenaganita ladies who came from a non-governmental organization brought over by one Serene (pun intended), a graceful lady who taught tenaganita the dance that they performed that night. They danced to 3 oldies in their self made costumes and it was beautiful.

The last but not least, closing act of the night needs no further introduction, our very own Mia Palencia. It was all giddy and stars for some of us as she came up on stage, getting her stuff ready and checking on her mic and her guitar. We've seen some of her best performances so we kinda knew what to expect which was great because it always leave us wanting to hear more. She sang a couple of numbers like Biru, men/women's disease (i forgot what was the title - someone help me!), a cover of switchfoot's twenty four and a few other songs.

That was it for this round of our first ANNIVERSARY!!

More will be coming up in the coming year of 2009. The team has been talking about a new direction and so expect alot more interesting lineup and prizes to be won in the coming year. We hope that all of you would enjoy your holiday, your Christmas, your New Year, your Chinese New Year, your Valentines with your family and your loved ones! Till we meet again, Rock on!

Awesomest last leg of the first season!!

Who would have guessed we'd come this far? It's already September which means next month is October uhm... isn't that a known fact? lol
Why did i even mention it you ask. it's not because Garrett needs a reminder or anything but it's really really special for Creative Life and all of the other who has been with us for sooooo long keep making Track of Talents happen month after month and come October, *drum rolls* it's gonna be our very first anniversary!!! {insert your enthusiastic line here}

Anyways, closing for our very first year of Track of Talents (TOT), we had a line up of extra, extra goooooood and talented people performing for the night. As usual, we had the honor of 1 am to open for the night with "My Everything", a sneak preview of what's happening in our upcoming youth album, changed =D

Next up, Vitto braced the stage with another one of his free flow, gravity-defying moves. It is but one of his best showmanship ever, IMHO. If you guys know Herbie Hancock or Elton John or uhm... oh better Richard Clayderman, then you must know James K cause if you don't, then you don't know much hehehehe I'm serious. Get to know him because you're going to get sooo hoooked on his music once you have a listen to his latest much anticipated album, Adoration. Released just 2 weeks ago in ECF, this 11 tracks album has some of the songs from our 1 am previous album, Sold out, all jazzed up! All from the likes of "Singing and Living", "Sold Out" and "My God is Big". The album is all up for sales in ECF. Get in touch with anyone of us and we'll be glad to help. We don't bite, really. We only nibble =D

Next on the lineup is the killer-(too-good-to-be-called-boyband-matured-boyz-2-men)-quartet!! Neil, Ben (ehem), Dom and Jude on the acoustic set singing Free Fallin' by John Mayer and our very own version of Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. Make sure you catch this on Youtube and vote for it because it's gonna change your life!

Anyways, after the quartet, Neil and Dom was still there preparing for another song, Learning to Breathe by Switchfoot. Awesome number!

Up next on the stage was Shaheeran, calling himself HV, smooth with his hood, shying his face from the crowd is a 15 year old beatboxer. Doing Droppin' like it's hot, a few other house (i wish i know what it was) was not so shy anymore when he wowed the crowd with his amazing talent. Truly gifted!

Urban Groove was once again on the stage with another one of their infectious upbeat dance moves. I have never seen Doris dance like that! lol If you know her, she was a lonely girl who only knows how to dance with the turkeys... oh sorry i mean peacock. I was so sure that if anyone was given a chance to prove themselves, you can never tell to what extend you can stretch your talent. This is definitely the platform! And all the other dancers are just as amazing!

It is our last but not the least performer of the night, Kenny Tay!! Absolutely our honor to have this very well known veteran in the music business and a very close friend of Kelvin, our "mane" man, to close for our very last leg of our first year's Track of Talents. Clad with a guitar in his hand, James standing next to me kept saying wow all the way with that "delicious" look on his face. I kept trying to understand what he wants to say but somehow i'm losing what he's tasting. I didn't know he can taste music notes let alone left me speechless about seeing colors and stuff. He played a total of 7 songs all oldies but goodies. Imagine this, he sang, "Sometimes When We Touch", "Proud Mary", "You've got a friend in me", Ticket to Ride", "Sunshine" written and composed by the man himself, "How can you mend a broken heart" and the last number, one of his golden Malay Hit =D See now you know what i meant by all the title of these songs? You're right, they're not easy stuff to sing lol Check out all these performances on Youtube, kenny's husky voice, full sound of his guitar and his simple appearance. Even with that he knows the essentials of capturing his audiences' attention and he demands your full and undivided senses but you're only willing to give =) like James K

Well, the performances of this night is definitely one of the best in row. You're missing out on alot if you weren't there but there's always the Youtube. I might be posting up a bit of the pictures of that night here in my next entry. So stay tune and wait for the line up of our official Track of Talents First Anniversary for next month because I heard there's gonna be a come back of our featured artist from the previous TOTs so it's gonna be HUGE this one I reckon. Da Event, "Merdekaz-ubolous Night"

A thousand apologies to everyone out there... I know I have been abandoning you for awhile now but they say good things come to those who wait :p ok that didn't work... I feel really bad now...
Opening for the night are our very own 1 am dance act with their performance entitled, "Change". They have recently visited Hong Kong for a dance conference and was so ministered and at the same time touch lives whenever they have the chance to. All 5 of them braced the stage, Sharon, Doreen, Nai Lin, Rachael and Jay (who wasn't there that night but Vitto took his place) took on different "mask" and danced a night of moving transformation they experienced in each of their life's testimony.

Right after Deborah went up for the second performance of the night, I already felt like it's a night featuring all the best artist of the year or something. She belted out a song she wrote and won in a songwriting competition entitled, "Delete you". We were taken aback when Manuel, from Peru sang us Viva Forever with his bamboo flute! It strangely brought me tingles of nostalgia of certain times... mmm i mean the serene kind =)

This time the Street Nation took the stage by storm and had us all fixed and anticipate every dance move they make. In short, it was crazeeee!!

Leong managed to take some footage of the students from Sunway University College doing some interview about Merdeka I'm trying to get him to upload it on Youtube so you guys can have a look if you're on! =)

For the next act we had a Marielle on the vocals and Carlos on the guitar doing a medley of 2 songs for us.

Marielle had a bad sorethroat that day but she gave her best anyways! It actually made her sound even more soulful accoording to some, they never knew she could sing like that! They did "Shy that way" by Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman and "Dream a little dream of me" a version did by Laura Fygi.

The crowd gotten all hyped up as if Street Nation wasn't enuff, Flava Crew threw themselves up the stage (literally) to show us even more moves we've never seen before and by that I am not exaggerating.

Clad in a simple T-shirt and jeans, with his hair to flip and a guitar to play, it's a perfect recipe to stir a crowd, he knows how to capture the audience this time with only one musical instrument. Well, what can I say? He's good =)

Last but not least, saving the best to end the show, is our guest artist, T4C! There are really 3 of them but they mentioned they're looking for another one - here you can see Garrett all smiles fidgety with his fingers and tears. He just adores them. T4C belted out most of the songs from the likes of Josh Groban (You raise me up), Don McLean (Vincent(Starry, starry night)), Elton John (Can you feel the love tonight), Il Divo (Nella Fantasia) and everyone's favourite hymn,

All in all, this TOT is one of the best night of performance we've ever had. We had a full house. We had a fun night. We had the best emcee and we have the best team or organizers =)

I hope everyone is doing great and is still passionate towards their passion!! Some of you must be back for your school break and some are hanging around doing nothing. Well, for ones who are anticipating a fun-filled-xplosive-crazy-moment with Malaysia and the rest of the people this end of August, come along to Track Of Talents on the ..... 2008. Bring as many friends as you want and be entertained yet again with a line-up of assorted talents prepared for especially with this month's theme, Merdeka! We're expecting alot of people from all races, alot of prizes and of course, Cpt. Cooza! say yay =D

So we'll be doing something really different on that day like uhm.... rehearsing Garrett's signature move or clad in our Malaysian flag =p *just kidding* but anyways it's more like the latter so I've done my best to capture how it is like you should come and how not to. Here goes;

Well to add flavour to the event, come in anything (combination of RED, WHITE, BLUE & YELLOW) that resembles your patriotism to your nation and we will pick the most creative ensemble of the night; you stand to win a prize!

Lining up for the night, are of course 1am to open and we also have the 1am dance who have just went to HongKong for the Dance project - if you have heard of how awesome they are, drop by! There's more dances followed up after that, a flute performance, a rubik's cube - speedcubing show by a genius! Once again we have the yo-yo duo who came for our previous night to dazzle us with their talents *watch out* Our guest artist of the night would be.... *drums roll* T4C which comprises of 3 members crooning an arrrrrray of the likes of Josh Groban, Michael Buble and Il Divo!! It sounds like a night I wouldn't miss so you definitely have to be there.

Alright Alright...... This site hasn't been updated :) We're all humans ;) Look at the bright side, if we were Apes, I don't think we would even start blogging.

Well the month of June was something different.... How come? We had two events this month which is called:-

"Talent Quest" and our regular monthly event "Track Of Talent"

Ok WHAT happend on Talent Quest?

Well on June 20,08 we at Creative Life came out with an event called Talent Quest ( As you scroll down you'll get more info) . This was like having our very own American Idol, So you think you can Dance type of event but much more since we want to basically get whatever talent in it and be the ULTIMATE TALENTED FREAK on Talent Quest BUT...

We had to postpone it in the last minute and place the event on a much later date.

Reason:-
1- So that we can have more people participate
2- We can have more sponsors

The show did go on though. We had performances from our in-house crew, Ravelution and other outside members etc....

The highlight of it all was the talk about Passion Quest. An event that works with Creative Life to help promote a huge event taking place on August 3rd 2008.

Or maybe you think you like to watch all these performances…. Like me?

Then this is the time and place for you to shine. Not only you’d have a cheering and supporting crowd, there’s a lot of lucrative prizes waiting to be won this time around. Come on over and have an exciting time sharing your talents with the world having the whole stage to yourself and yourself only. You can opt to come as a band, bring and play your own instruments, do a solo, a duet, not forgetting a bunch of noisy friends =) Prepare a 2 minutes show of any sort of talent you can think of. Of course no explicit contents are allowed and a time of screening will be on as well. Potential performers, please browse through the lines drawn by Garrett below =)

Rules and Regulations

LET YOUR TALENT BE TRUE TALENT…

1) Profanity isn't talent, neither is it creative so don't let it dim your spotlight!

2) All we want to see on stage are your hidden talents, nothing else. So, minis and skimpy pieces have to stay in your wardrobe… Guys, take note too!

3) Body language and proximity in your movements and forms speak more than You know. Be a stimulus of great and priceless ideas, not one to arouse unhelpful thoughts.

Ben: ToT! Creative Life! 23rd of May! ECF Puchong!

Garrett: *speaks slowly* Oh right! I forgot! i'm supposed to do something on that day!

Ben: That's right! It is a time where we can see lots of people and artists and celebrities coming together to share what they have in common, talents.

Garrett: Last month, we had appearances from Melina, Tempered Mental, Talents Inc. group from the Phillipines, Jericho Rosales just to name a few and hosting the event this time is our Captain Cruz whom Neil has left to be the projectionist for the night!

Ben: Performances lined up for the month of May would be surprises from Garrett, probably a violin piece and Vitto, probably a dance number. Ravelution, our patron for most of our TOTs are also displaying a flute performance for the night and Jay, a sweet girl hailing from the land of Caribbean will be singing a song for us, Fallin'.

Garrett: We'd sure be fallin' for her performance by the end of it! haha We also have 2 very promising artist from ECF to showcase their work of caricature and of cartoon arts. Coming up we have Keng Joon, Lisa's friend to give us a drum solo.

Ben: mmm I wonder who our guest artist is for this month.

Garrett: I heard he is a perfectionist! He has perfect pitch, perfect hearing and basically a walking metronome!

Ben: Wow! Are you sure, you're not exagerrating? I know KG Tan was a music teacher though and he's been playing professionally for more than 20 years in KL circuits.

Garrett: Correct! He also plays multiple instruments including piano, keyboard, guitar, a little bit of Violin and even Gu Zhen!

Ben: Awesome! I can't wait to see what he is up to that night. So, Garrett did you invite any friends for the event?

Garrett: Uhm.. Yea sure! *Grins* I've invited so many of my friends before.

Ben: Kewl! I'm personally expecting a crowd of crazy music lovers and arts enthusiasts for the night.

What happend on APRIL TOT?

To start off with this round of TOT, a disclaimer: I was waiting for my turn to entertain the crowd. It’s not so much because I was sitting down there watching the whole show feeling so restless.

Or maybe.

Weirdness.

Don’t ask.

Anyways, as much as I hate to say this, this is by far my favorite month of TOT!! Talk about celebrities, talents and Garrett jumping up and down giggling the whole time, it’s like my birthday, new year and going to Mariah Carey’s concert all wrapped up in this 2 hour exhilarating time.

Kicking off the night was both our very own giant jazz musician, tapping away on the keyboard, James and slapping on the lines of his “Booked” bass guitar, Jude. Their drills and thrills of a medley kept me on my toes the whole time! Hey Sharon, if you’re reading this, you should have been here seeing our very own female-version of Jay Chou cum-part-time Stevie Wonder singing one of her song she composed and written. To be perfectly honest, I never expected much since I was familiar with her oriental-operatic influenced style in music; she totally brought me back to the days I lie down in front of the idiot box with my milk bottle watching Snow White and the annoying elves. Or dwarfs? Ah… blissfully nostalgic. It then escalades to a happily ever after ending *wide grin*.

Clad in a simple T-shirt and jeans, Adam from the Ravelution accompanied by a friend, Dimi showed us the wonder of throwing small wheel up in the air by a thread, sometimes, 2 wheels practically everywhere without getting them tied up in knots like I would. They are the yo-yo masters who spend hundreds of ringgit getting fanciful equipments to try out new moves and stuff. Awesome! Another performance by the Ravelution, Max with MJ braced the stage accompanied by an electronic-enhanced-techno with a slight hint of Arabian music by keyboardist, Zaif. Their energy and enthusiasm was infectious as they dance in from both sides of the stage you could see Jonathan and I making waves with our fingers at the back =D

Our host, Neil and Cpt Cruz was not only tickling our funny bones on stage but their skit on the video was hilarious! The crowd burst into laughter when the police came up who looked like Cpt Cruz. We knew that was him when he started speaking funny. Weird stuff. To stop myself from biting my lips off in a dizzying state of humorous euphoria, I put my notepad in my mouth. Hailing from the Philippines, Talent Inc. was invited to the stage to share what they have prepared for us, a lineup of colourful choices of breathtaking performances. Talent Inc is a 1 year old team based in Davao, the Philippines under the church, Victory Christian Fellowship organized by the Fabregas. Together with us that night was Julia, Maybelle, Josh, Marlou, EJ, Ivy and their dedicated team of pastors. Ushering them to the stage was the romeo of *cough* Sarah’s *cough* dream guy, Filipino on-screen-heartthrob, Pangako sayo actor, Jericho Rosales!!

They started off with a dance number to the remix version of Awesome God which was awesome. Enough said. They moved so passionately to the upbeat of the song they had the whole audience swaying and singing to it especially Garrett and his signature move *wink* Their second number was a song by the legendary Gloria Gaynor, I will survive. It was starkly rapturous to hear both EJ and Ivy as they add their own raw flavour to this classic tune without committing musical sacrilege. Josh, a lively 16 year old chap came up afterwards to tell us stories with his drum jargons. Keeping a repose position with the sticks in his hands, he rocked my sox. They ended with yet another excellent dance number, to the hit musical, Hairspray. Keeping the show alive was also their resemblance to the characters from the play. I can imagine what Garrett is thinking right now, mmm never mind.

Wrapping up the night was our guest artist, our very own homegrown talent, Miss Melina William from Tempered Mental. The vocalist and the bassist from a three piece band, equipped with a guitar, a humble presence and a message to convey, she presented 4 songs for the night which kept the crowd wanting more when she delivered her last number. Easing her into arranging herself on the center stage was of course our lovely hosts, Neil and Cpt Cruz asking her lots of questions haha. The audience barely let up the releasing of adrenaline as she performed “Riddles”, a haunting melody and then “Blindfold” and the last one, “Re-Call”. Timeless tunes.

Even the aftermath of the whole event was a blast! We had CDs sold at the back and signature session, photography session in the front, fellowship with the performers, picking up rubbish, arranging chairs and of course, makan time with the celebrities!

All in all, the TOT nights are definitely getting better and better each time with more exciting shows and talents of our generation lined up in future. I for one am really looking forward to it and having said that, not forgetting our key persons in organizing these nights, kudos to all the light and sound crew and of course our “mane” man, Kelvin. Do check out our next TOT with performances from Garrett (Wooo Hooo Finally!), instrumentalist James, Frogway cast, Marielle-Digby NOT! =P and guest artist, bla bla bla…. On the 23^rd May, Friday at 7.30 pm.

This is kinda late but hey, were human ;)

Here is a write up for what was suppose to be before April 25, 08. I thought it was good so might as well post it. Thank Ben FLY BOI!

Why would a young guy like Garrett, rush out from working at home at 6 to beat a nasty bumper-to-bumper 1 hour traffic to be at our Track of Talents in Puchong last month? Well, it’s all about the performances lined up for the most sought after event month after month except this month we have a special guest appearance by our homegrown Ms. Talented Mia Palencia.

The night begun with the 1a.m. Dance who presented a dance (obviously!) to a song, “Imagine Me” accompanied by a moving and heart-wrenching message in the form of a video. Then the crowd was swoon to la la land by the ever-melodious voice of Ben (Ok this is your cue for the Mexican wave!! *Wooooooo*) who has never failed to perform in every ToT with his loyal and talented guitarist, Dominic (he’s single btw *grins*).

Anyways, we then had a piano solo (Variation) after that by an 11 year old Samantha and then a bass solo (Amazing Grace) by the mysterious-multi-talented-I-shaved-my-beard-because-I-don’t-want-to-look-like-neil-basket-man, *drum rolls* Jude Limus!!

Leong came up afterwards with his video on the Ravelution in Sunway University College led by Doris with her enthusiastic group of peeps. They also did a solo by May & Terry with the song, Secondhand Serenade by Awake. Emo yo! The crowd was then serenaded by Jay from the Caribbean’s with “Like a Star” and then a Spanish solo guitar performance by Tom from Sunway University College and not forgetting an Arabian dance number by Faisal and Co.

By that time, the crowd was getting hyped up with anticipation. It was Mia’s turn to close for the night. She gathered her props and composed herself in the middle of the stage looking comfortable as if she was born to do this. Garrett was fidgety and kept breaking his knuckle. Ask him why. She started with “Superman”, a song she wrote and arranged which practically blew us all away. She then ended with a song which she said was always an inspiration to her, Twenty-four by Switchfoot. She got the whole crowd singing along with her and *whisper* *Neil forgot his lyrics*. All in all it was an awesome night with Neil and Capt. Cruz as our host for the evening. And of course the crowd! They were unbeatable!

Here’s a few giveaway of what’s happening in our next ToT in April!
A very very very very very sweet girl, Melina William from the band, Tempered Mental, a very promising Malaysian band will be sharing their talent and doing what they’re called to do, to infuse our generation with the love of music and experimental progressive rock outfits. They were formed recently around February 2002 and they have been playing in a lot gigs around the KL circuit. Tempered Mental’s sound ranges from radio friendly tunes to darker and more aggressive influences and in between these two extremes. If you like their single, “Honestly”, you might want to come and have a look at what this band has to offer *wink*. Also lined up among other surprises, we have a team of inspirational and talented Filipinos and the Ravelution and then of course let’s put our hands together for our wonderful hosts, Neil and Capt. Cruz again!

Tired but Excited!

Yea... had loads of stuff going on for like the past 2 weeks but I'm excited for this weeks Track of Talents April 25,08. We've got some guess all the way from the Philippines showing up, Ravelution is back showing off their incredible talents and last but not the least ... Melina from Tempered Mental will be with us ....

Guys, you can't miss this.... so be there! Oh yea... here's some leak.... you have got to be there when the night begins... hahahaha... theres a video that you guys SERIOUSLY have to watch hahaha ;)

Hahaha, It's April!!!

And this site has been quiet but now RESURRECTED!

In short, February we had Army of Three as our special guest together with our in house talents. Even that crazy YOYO Champ Eugene is it?!?!?! was with us. YOYO's still cool. We were blessed to have them with us that month. I'll be posting up a video about them here soon.

Next, the month of March was a blast. We had part of the "Ravelution" back with us to do a song number. We even had New performances from our new in-house talent, Janielle to do a number from Corinne Bailey - Like a star which simply was beautiful.

We even had performances from the Middle-East. One was a traditional dance number from Faizal and his friends and the other from Persia who goes by the name Tom, blew us away with his guitar spanish guitar skills. That was Crazy!

To top off the night, we had MIA PALENCIA! If you do not know her........ where have you been? You guys have been missing some good music.

I'll be posting up some videos soon as well as a couple of thoughts from different people in regards to the past T.O.T events.

Did is mention that we also had an EASTER PARTY?!?!?! Yikes!!!

Whats up guys!

Track of Talents starts tomorrow and man the performances prepared for people like you, me to enjoy looks great.(If only you could see the line up.hehehehe)

Anyway, we just came out with our BusCompany interview which was taken last month since they were our special guest. Thanks to our pretty video editor "Ms.Pretty Chenny". Great job!!!

As the day of our February Track of Talents is drawing near, we are all excited and preparing the whole process through and making the Track of Talents a wonderful show for you! As you have heard, we have an all exciting performances waiting to be shown to you and talents waiting to be discovered.

what can you expect from our February Track of Talents you may ask... we have a line up of Ravelution dance team and band from Sunway College University! Several dance performances that is going to hype everyone up, vocal performances from the critically acclaimed Miss Saigon the musical, piano performances and some mind blowing performance from our mystery man who is going to mesmerized us with his multi-instrument performance called ' A day in the life of Mr. Motif'!

Army of three - Who are they?

Army of Three is one of the freshest bands to come out of the Klang Valley. The band consists of Jeff (28) on lead vocals and guitars, Alex (21) on guitars and backing vocals, Eddy (25) on the drums and Darren (20) on bass and backing vocals. Army of Three is a band about the Power of Trinity, which represents the band’s faith and background.

Just formed in early 2005, the band members crossed each other’s path through a church event. Since then, the band has come a long way, playing at various local events. From Levis Battle of the Bands, which kick-started their career when they came in Second place to being invited to play at Digi’s Anniversary Concert in Mont Kiara. The band also performed with other popular local acts in support of World Peace at last year’s World Peace Concert in Times Square. Army of Three also took part in the annual Fete de la Musique, an international affair, drawing musicians out into the streets of cities around the world to perform, which took place last year in One Utama, Bandar Utama; Sunday at Bukit Bintang, Low Yat Plaza and Berjaya Times Square.

At last year’s first Malaysia Revival Songwriting Competition, the band played as the house band on behalf of Starmaker for the artists taking part in the competition. Soon after the concert, Starmaker decided to sign up the band in their first venture as a new recording label. Aside from major events, Army of Three also plays at smaller events and church concerts, with their mission in making a difference and bringing influence especially among the youth of Malaysia.
Army of Three is making waves and gaining popularity wherever they make their appearances with very individualistic musical style. Their music which bends towards Rock is drawing excitement, attention and even controversies, with questions raised concerning how Rock themed inspirational music can fit into our conservative society. None the less, Army of Three has a mission in the music they write, not compromising to the standards of the world, but doing what they know they are called to do, which is reaching the world with their music about hope, faith, peace and love, bringing a positive message to the youth that are in a stage of seeking their identity. Musically, the band is still working hard to develop their music and their skills. They are currently already working on thes debut album, with their first demo single, “Blind Me to See” already released from the studio. The band is eager to share their music to the world and in the process, develop their growing fan base and create a new history in Malaysian music. The band plans to establish themselves amongst the best in local music and to bring their music further beyond Malaysia. They are hoping to get the local media support such as the radio and TV stations to push them to greater heights.

With a blend of positive, inspiring lyrics, and fresh, vibrant, cutting edge rock music combined with explosive live performances, the band is striving to make a difference and influence the youth in the right way.

Hello hello hello!!!

Chinese New Year has just past but it’s not over yet! I believe some of yous are still celebratin for at least the next few days eh!!! So to all our Chinese fans, friends and families…Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Anyway…once again, on behalf of the organizin team, we are proud to announce that the 2^nd edition of Track of Talents for 2008 is just around of corner!!! For this round, we will be featuring a rowdy but talented bunch of guys whose album has been on constant radio airplays for many many weeks especially late last year…hmmm…curious?! They are the Army of Three!!! With their loud and energetic sound, be sure to expect them to bring the roofs down!!!

Plus we will also be havin more entertainin acts by other talented performer with performances such as includes *singin, dancin, video presentation and a lot more. So do come and join us as we indulge ourselves in an evening filled with great and entertainin performances. Who knows…you might even have the chance to share the stage with all these gifted bunch of artistic crowd one day?!

Anyway, this time around it would be Me and Cuz to host the night away....

We would be having performances from ummmm ... Group Singing, Magic, Solo Singing, Hairstyling, and MORE Singing, Dancing and MORE AND MORE Singing...etc...etc....GAMES AND MORE GAMES..... Oh by the way, drinks will be served ;)

This time around, be sure to see a lot of new faces on stage. Some doing performances with old faces. We even have a special performances from a super-duper band, "BUSCOMPANY"band. Winners of both "Songwriting competition" and "Battle of the bands" held last year 07'. I don't know if you guys have heard of them but trust me..... they're better than good! So you won't be disappointed.
